Write "HOLY" On Your Forehead

This is a poem I wrote awhile back to explain something my friends did.

write "holy" on your forehead,

make this nation stop and think--

are we really just and righteous,

as holy as we think?

we write it on our foreheads,

not to boast but to promote

the love that glows inside us,

that Satan tried to smote

We do not think that we can be

as holy as the lamb

we only wish to strike the hearts

of all within the land

We hope to show them, hope they see

that we don't have to be

aimless sinners, wayward trav'lers,

who just do not see

We want to generate a pause:

a time to stop and think:

do I live the way I should?

and practice being meek?

We feel led to show without

the yearning that's within-

to be holy and blameless, perfectly white,

totally without sin.

We wish not to be misunderstood,

to be taken the wrong way;

we only wish to make some think:

and maybe even pray

For if one sees this and they see

love shining in our eyes

it just might make them stop and think,

or make them realize

that what truly matters, what we love,

is not a thing without.

But rather someone, pure and holy,

we could not live without.
